Test your skills against other participants! Full kit provided.
The cost of this Taster is £10 (which is taken off the price of the beginners course, if you decide to enrol).
To register for the taster session please fill in the form here. You will then be taken to PayPal.
Next Beginners Course starts: 26th January 2017
The Beginners Course Runs for 10 weeks on Thursday nights from 8:00pm-9:00pm at Netherhall Upper School Sportshall. The course is geared towards adults (16+) and we have had participants of all ages from 16 – late 60’s. Younger children should contact the Cambridge Sword, linked at the top of this page.
The course is structured in a way to take you from no fencing experience at all to the ability to conduct a proper fencing match.A general warm-up and stretching session is followed by fencing footwork, technical partner exercises and an opportunity for free fencing.
The course costs £92. For this you will receive 10 lessons, use of club kit and social membership of British Fencing Association and 4 months club membership, so you will have an opportunity to fence with the regular club after the club and see whether you want to become a full member. In this time you can fence with the club regulars using the electric kit, join the club’s Intermediate Course and try out the different weapons (epeé and sabre).
All sessions and courses are taught by a group of experienced, qualified fencing coaches. All of the fencing equipment will be provided. We try to keep the exertion at a reasonable level and concentrate on fencing technique so people with various levels of fitness can enjoy the classes. At the end of each lesson there will be opportunity to put what you have learnt into practise by fencing fellow beginners.
The Beginners Course costs £92 for 10 weeks and includes 4-month club membership and use of all relevant equipment (mask, weapon, jacket and gloves, etc).
To register for the taster session please fill in the form here. You will then be taken to PayPal (deposit is £20).
What you need to bring
Please bring clean sports shoes and comfortable clothing which covers your legs. You’ll need to be able to freely move and stretch your legs so tracksuit trousers are best. Shorts or skirts should not be worn. You might want to bring a bottle of water.
We have now set up an online registration system for both Taster Sessions and Beginners Course, with deposits made through PayPal.
To register for the taster session or beginners course please fill in the form here. Where the form asks you for BFA Number, please put in “Taster” or “Beginners”. You will then be taken to PayPal to place a deposit. If you have any problems with this, please contact 07481 538415.
As well as the online booking, there is a Cambridge Fencing Club Membership Form to be completed before you start.
Blank copies of this form will be available on the event night, though it will help if you can bring the completed forms with you on the evening.
