These sessions will give you an introduction to some of the basics of fencing (the ‘en guard’ stance, fencing steps and simple attacks), before giving you an opportunity to fence for real and test your skills against other participants! Full kit is provided. The session is taught by a British Fencing Level 2 – qualified instructor.

Beginners’ Courses

What are they?

Cambridgeshire Fencing Club runs Taster Sessions and Beginners’ Courses for adults (ages 18 plus) with little or no experience in fencing.  We also run Intermediate Classes for novices building upon their Beginners’ Course, or those coming back to fencing after a break. Classes take place on Thursday evenings at Netherhall School Sports Hall, Queen Edith’s Way, Cambridge, CB1 8NN. There will be an opportunity after the course to fence with regular club members during a trial period as an “intermediate level fencer”. You will also be able to participate in Intermediate Sessions at the club and see whether you want to become a full member.  You can also use this time to try out the different weapons (Epee and Sabre).
